Nowadays I read mostly non-fiction and whatever my kids recommend. As they were growing up we had one unbreakable rule in our house: you can't see the movie until you've read the book. What delight it gave my three naughty fairies to turn the table on mom and dad. Needless to say, I still haven't seen LORD OF THE RINGS.
In the past I've loved books by Anya Seton, Sergeanne Golon, Judith McNaught, Linda Howard, Kathryn Lynn Davis, Katherine Sutcliffe, Teresa Medeiros, Jill Marie Landis, Cameron Cruise, and Rosamunde Pilcher.
There is one book that stands out in my mind, LION OF IRELAND by Morgan Llywelyn. It's a hauntingly beautiful book about the ancient Irish king Brian Boru, and one of the few books I've recommended that appeals across the board to readers.
